Across From The Dillard House
Country Ham from The Dillard House in Dillard, GA was featured by chef Alton Brown on the Food Network's "Best Thing I Ever Ate." A huge coincidence was the fact that my sister and I were watching that exact TV episode for the first time at my grandparent's house in Kansas, then later after we'd made our pilgrimage to Dillard (my grandparents were attending a Gem and Mineral Show up in Franklin, NC and we always stayed at a hotel a few miles south in Dillard, GA), we were looking for someplace to eat dinner and I remembered The Dillard House. And Alton Brown was right. That place is delicious. But it's kind of expensive. We paid a little over $20 per person to eat. It was definitely a unique dining experience though. They serve everything family style, they bring the food to you, and you pass the bowls around the table. There was so much food, I got full before I could sample it all! But their cabbage casserole, country ham, and homemade Georgia peach cobbler were definitely my favorites!
Incy Wincy Spider
As I was sat watching the episode of Series 3 of "LOST" on TV tonight where two of the crash victims are bitten by poisonous spiders, paralised and buried alive this beast of an arachnid scuttled out from under my nest of coffee tables and stood looking at me across the lounge!
Strange coincidence or what?
Now I am spooked and will have bizarre dreams involving huge spiders all night!
(By the way, I carefully caught it in an old ice cream tub and released it back into my garden - but I have closed my bedroom window just in case it can climb walls!)
